Challenge

FusionWorkshop were successful web developers. Rapidly expanding, taking on ever more complex Sitecore projects and working with impressive clients throughout the UK and internationally. But 16 years on and coming of age they no longer felt their name and identity reflected their aspirations for the future. They asked Heavenly to help them transform and reveal their true personality.

Insight

We talked to their clients, partners and staff to find the unshakeable truth about FusionWorkshop. Sitecore told us “they really get Sitecore” and It became clear that when you are investing in expensive and complex digital transformation projects you want work with people who really know what they are doing. People who don’t take themselves too seriously but who obsess with the details that make the difference between tech success and tech failure. People just like those we met at Fusionworkshop.

The Idea

We should celebrate the reliable, human and smart people who worked in FusionWorkshop. They are proud of what they are  – geeks. And this reassured their customers. They are reassuringly geeky.

The Name

We looked at geeky names, reassuring names, witty names, smart names and proud names.  With the client, we debated, we laughed, we sighed and when we came up with Kagool we all had a party! Welcome to a new kind of cool. Welcome to Kagool.

The Solution

The balance between reassuring and geeky is a delicate one. The new visual identity reflects the Kagool personality proud, witty, challenging, slightly awkward but very comfortable in their new skin.

Results

Did it work? Not half. –

“Kagool feels like a very different business to Fusionworkshop.…… The visual identity and name has definitely had an impact. We are memorable both visually and verbally. FWS/Fusion/Fusion Workshop/Fusionworkshop was grey. We blended into the background and never got the recognition we deserved. The office feels more vibrant and I think it is a better place to work. The culture is more relaxed, but the team all remain focused and committed and we have an ownable TOV. I think that Heavenly deserve a pat on the back for walking us through this. I was always hopeful that it would be a catalyst to evolve and change. So far it’s been a huge success and has done exactly that. We feel like a bold business now. We act with conviction and do it with a smile (most of the time). We’ve truly become the go to people for Sitecore.”
