Gong Xi Fa Cai!

31 January 2014 Jim Harrison,

Today marks the first day of Chinese New Year around the world and everywhere from China to the Philippines, Malaysia and beyond, fireworks and lion dances drum in the sounds and signs of jubilation and festivity.

Those born in the year of the Horse are energetic, bright and intelligent. They are believed to have great communication skills and enjoy the limelight. In general they are cheerful, popular, talented and often associated with success.

To celebrate we've gathered together some creative equine inspiration:

Spencer Murphy's portrait of jockey Katie Walsh which won the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2013:

Andy Scott's public sculptures 'The Kelpies' in Falkirk, Scotland:

Nic Fiddian-Green's horse head scultpures:

BLDG's blue horse branding for the city of Lexington, Kentucky:

Maria Moore's photography of deserted showjumping grounds (see images, right):

And finally a TED talk by the ever-inspiring Handspring Puppet Co, the creators of the puppets used in the stage play War Horse:

As we welcome the Chinese New Year, we would like to wish all our Heavenly Friends and Clients… near and far…. Gong Xi Fa Cai!
